Top tops in my closet | April.

First of all, I would like to apologize for the lack of posts. I'll soon be facing my AS levels and believe me when I say I spend most of my nights in bed curled up with notes and books and soothing music streaming from my iPod.

Because of this I haven't been able to go out and take any more shots of what I wore. So this is the best I can do. I bought these tops in the month of April. I adore them. They're some of my favorite pieces in my closet.

First of all we have a signature shirt by Cotton-Ink, an Indonesian brand. I bought the top online because it came at a great price and it looked great on the model! It doesn't look as great on me *cough* but I still really love it because it's so unique.

[Necklace - Forever 21. Bag - Pull&Bear. Jeans - Lois. Other accessories - A winning smile.]

And behold, two girls shamelessly taking bathroom mirror pictures like we never left 2008. I didn't really buy this top in the month of April, but it was April when I first wore it. The top is from Pull&Bear's SS2012 collection. I know I must sound like an avid Pull&Bear fangirl by now, but really - I love them. I'm pretty sure this is the first time I ever bought anything floral patterned in my life, but ever since I laid eyes on this baby - I'm hooked.

[You can't see them in this picture but I was also wearing: Shorts - Forever 21. Clutch - Topshop. Ankle boots - Clarks.]

Lastly, this top I bought in Rumah Mode Bandung, a factory outlet. FOs are great for when you're looking for pieces that don't necessarily follow the trend. I don't live in Bandung, so whenever I do go there I make sure I grab a lot of stuff that I wouldn't find in the shopping malls of Jakarta.

[You also can't see them but: Lace shorts - Zara. Clutch - Topshop. Oxford heels - Hush Puppies.]

Also I found a new crush. It's one of those tragic cases where you can't stop thinking about them for days even though you only met for a short period of time. It was love at first sight. I even took a picture.

I know you're judging me because I still haven't gotten a chance to wear my new floral print blazer yet but.....baby, I just want you so bad.

Are you excited? I am.

Here it is, the long promised (hopefully long awaited) OOTD post! We went to Ancol, the closest beach for us Jakarta citizens, and had dinner there to celebrate my friend's birthday before heading to the nearest karaoke club.

And since it was the first time in a while that I actually had someone to take pictures of me while I was in casual clothing, I just couldn't resist. So I forced my little brother, who was playing his computer games, to take a step outside and to be my personal photographer. You'd think he'd just tell me to fuck off but he's faced more of my weirder antics with the maturity I haven't managed to learn just yet.

And so I present to you. My backside. Maybe it was because I couldn't keep a straight face knowing that it was my brother taking pictures of me, for the first few shots the only pictures where I don't look like a loon were the ones without my face.

No, this isn't my brother. My brother would never take pictures with me.

Behold, a picture of my face. And another one of my back. I swear to you, it's not like I have a back fetish or that I'm extremely proud of my never-been-to-the-gym ass - I just happen to like pictures of me where I don't have to see my face all the time.

And as I end this post, I leave you with this one happy looking picture of me.

Top, shorts, shoes - Pull & Bear.

It's 2012. We met online.

You think you've experienced gruesome traffic -- but then you visit Jakarta. Honestly, we Jakarta citizens laugh at what television and movies call "a traffic jam" because that's what we consider smooth traffic! Anyway, this sad truth is what got in the way between me and my plans to go thrift shopping. (see previous post)

Instead, my dad and I went to one of the biggest malls in Jakarta, Grand Indonesia. I was going to give up my challenge and finally cave in into buying one of the Zara blazers. Before we went to get my blazer (notice the possessive use of the word 'my'), my dad got a haircut and told me to get my nails done while I wait. I know, if I were you, I'd want my dad for a dad as well.

Of course, all good love stories have to face obstacles before they reach the happy ending. Grand Indonesia's Zara store does not stock the floral print blazers. I was heartbroken.

Here's where the internet comes in. I was browsing through blogs and blogs of Indonesian fashion bloggers and found this one local brand who has a really cool piece at a very wallet friendly price: Nikicio.

I immediately placed an order, and it should come sometime next week!

Here's the thing though. I am still lusting over one of those Zara floral blazers. I was thinking, maybe I should still get them even though I've found another print blazer. They're pretty different pieces. I'm in a dilemma. My heart says one thing, my wallet says another.

I leave you this post with a question. Since I wear outerwear's as often as most people wear t-shirts, can you really own too much blazers?

(fangirl reference: according to irene adler, "there's no such thing as too much.")

The one

I used to think I dress the way I do because I want to be seen as someone strong and confident -- but now I realize that's not enough anymore. Lately, I've been oozing in confidence when it comes to choosing whatever the hell I want to wear in the morning (can you feel the confidence oozing from these words?). In fact, if I had to choose two words to describe my overall style these days they'd be: "Man Repellant".

Oh yes, this blogger right here is a devout disciple of Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller. If fashion were religion (which to some it is), The Man Repeller would be my bible. My holy scripture. The woman is stylish, refreshing, and most importantly hilarious. It's so refreshing to see a fashion blogger who doesn't take themselves too seriously -- I haven't seen much of this type in the fashion blogosphere.

My love for the blog mentioned above is relevant to this post because it is responsible for the one item that's been constantly on my mind lately: the perfect print blazer.
The Man Repeller herself pulling off the most amazing look with a floral print blazer.
And now, for the life of me, I can't seem to go anywhere without the lust for that fine piece haunting me. I've skimmed through countless of web stores hoping to find a piece of equal magnificence but I just can't.

When I do find an amazing piece....they don't come wallet friendly. There was also this one heartbreaking incident where the right blazer with the right price does not deliver to the right country (or continent). I've never lusted for something more unattainable. Except for maybe Ryan Gosling.

Retail stores I frequent to in Indonesia do have their own share of these print blazers. Forever 21, although their usual campaigned styles are always against the point of man repelling, actually has some pretty decent pieces. And Zara's floral print blazers are gorgeous.

However, I've challenged myself to try and find pieces from stores other than the usual stores I go to (Inditex brands are really popular here). So tomorrow, or Sunday, I'm going....thrift shopping!

In order to see what's so exciting about this, you'd have to read the next blog post. I'm thinking, post-thrift shopping and hopefully, after I find "the one".
