You think you've experienced gruesome traffic -- but then you visit Jakarta. Honestly, we Jakarta citizens laugh at what television and movies call "a traffic jam" because that's what we consider smooth traffic! Anyway, this sad truth is what got in the way between me and my plans to go thrift shopping. (see previous post)
Instead, my dad and I went to one of the biggest malls in Jakarta, Grand Indonesia. I was going to give up my challenge and finally cave in into buying one of the Zara blazers. Before we went to get my blazer (notice the possessive use of the word 'my'), my dad got a haircut and told me to get my nails done while I wait. I know, if I were you, I'd want my dad for a dad as well.
Of course, all good love stories have to face obstacles before they reach the happy ending. Grand Indonesia's Zara store does not stock the floral print blazers. I was heartbroken.
Here's where the internet comes in. I was browsing through blogs and blogs of Indonesian fashion bloggers and found this one local brand who has a really cool piece at a very wallet friendly price: Nikicio.
I immediately placed an order, and it should come sometime next week!
Here's the thing though. I am still lusting over one of those Zara floral blazers. I was thinking, maybe I should still get them even though I've found another print blazer. They're pretty different pieces. I'm in a dilemma. My heart says one thing, my wallet says another.
I leave you this post with a question. Since I wear outerwear's as often as most people wear t-shirts, can you really own too much blazers?
(fangirl reference: according to irene adler, "there's no such thing as too much.")

The one
I used to think I dress the way I do because I want to be seen as someone strong and confident -- but now I realize that's not enough anymore. Lately, I've been oozing in confidence when it comes to choosing whatever the hell I want to wear in the morning (can you feel the confidence oozing from these words?). In fact, if I had to choose two words to describe my overall style these days they'd be: "Man Repellant".
Oh yes, this blogger right here is a devout disciple of Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller. If fashion were religion (which to some it is), The Man Repeller would be my bible. My holy scripture. The woman is stylish, refreshing, and most importantly hilarious. It's so refreshing to see a fashion blogger who doesn't take themselves too seriously -- I haven't seen much of this type in the fashion blogosphere.
My love for the blog mentioned above is relevant to this post because it is responsible for the one item that's been constantly on my mind lately: the perfect print blazer.
And now, for the life of me, I can't seem to go anywhere without the lust for that fine piece haunting me. I've skimmed through countless of web stores hoping to find a piece of equal magnificence but I just can't.
When I do find an amazing piece....they don't come wallet friendly. There was also this one heartbreaking incident where the right blazer with the right price does not deliver to the right country (or continent). I've never lusted for something more unattainable. Except for maybe Ryan Gosling.
Retail stores I frequent to in Indonesia do have their own share of these print blazers. Forever 21, although their usual campaigned styles are always against the point of man repelling, actually has some pretty decent pieces. And Zara's floral print blazers are gorgeous.
However, I've challenged myself to try and find pieces from stores other than the usual stores I go to (Inditex brands are really popular here). So tomorrow, or Sunday, I'm going....thrift shopping!
In order to see what's so exciting about this, you'd have to read the next blog post. I'm thinking, post-thrift shopping and hopefully, after I find "the one".

A short introduction. Sort of.
Trust me when I say I've spent the last 2 days trying to figure out what my first blog post was going to be about. Should I just write an introductory paragraph? Should I post a picture of myself? What sort of self-portrait would capture the real me? Should I try to be witty, or funny, or apathetic, or intellectual?
Of course, I end up right here - where it's nearly midnight - in my bed typing whatever pops into my head on my computer. No I'm not uninspired (if I were then it'd mean I'm always uninspired), this is what usually happens. I mean I spent over 2 hours with the "Sign Up" page open because I couldn't think of a blog name before I ended up making up another word which I thought sounded cool.
Anyway here's me looking pretty happy: (Picture credit goes to a very adorable boy in Japan whom I miss dearly)
I would post a picture where my face isn't as distorted, but it is now over midnight and I'm really not in the mood to take myself seriously. So here are some bullet points, pivotal things (or small warnings) you'd need to know about me if you plan on keeping up with this blog for a long time (which I sincerely hope you do /smiles)
You might also be interested to know what the content of this blog will be. Again, bullet points for your convenience.

- My name is Nadia, I am turning 17 this year and I currently reside in Indonesia.
- Female. Although I hope you would have worked that out on your own.
- I'm a huge contradiction. I am both studious and a slacker. I plan on getting a degree in material engineering (hope you haven't heard that one on a fashion blog before). I love the sciences and maths, what can I say?
- I don't really have a personal style. My mood and destination (and most importantly, the hours of sleep I got) usually determines what I wear. But if I had to, I'd say boho chic with a slight hint of prep. (But then again I might surprise you and show up wearing a crop top and daisy dukes. Again: you were warned.)
- I am highly unpredictable. Mood swings are normal. (I would say I'm bipolar but my parents never bothered finding out....then again I am a teenage girl.)
You might also be interested to know what the content of this blog will be. Again, bullet points for your convenience.
- Fashion. More specifically: trends I like, what I'm wearing, where I find my treasures.
- Food. I am a huge foodie.
- Personal posts. My days might not be a reality show (yet) but still, I will blog about them. A lot.
- Music, Television, Movies, Book reviews.
- Anything really (see above warnings)
If you read the novel-length intro above - and if by any chance you enjoyed it - feel free to stick around because more gems are coming your way. And hey, really, I could use the friends.
